How to change the Apple iTunes Password or App store password

When you first created an Apple ID, you picked an email address and a password. Apple ID is the account you use for everything you do with Apple, like shopping the iTunes Store, signing in to iCloud, buying an app and much more.

If you’re having issues signing in with your Apple ID password, What steps you should take to reset it and regain access to your account. iTunes lets you at any time change the password you use for the iTunes Store, and App Store from iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. To reset your password, you’ll need to know the email address for your Apple ID. You must change your iTunes password (otherwise known as an Apple ID) on a computer. Follow the steps how to change your iTunes password through the iTunes Store, and how this will affect all other devices you have connected to this Apple ID.

To change your password follow these steps:

2. You can reset your password when you go to your Apple ID account page and click Forgot Apple ID or password. Enter your Apple ID and click “Next”. Your Apple ID is usually the email address that you used to create your account. then click Continue.

Choose your authentication method. There are two main ways that you can verify that you own the Apple ID: You can opt to have a verification message sent to your email address, or you can answer security questions that you chose when you created the account. You will be required to do this for both changing your password and retrieving your Apple ID.

E-mail – A verification email will be sent to each email address that you have associated with your Apple ID. Clicking the link in the email will take you to the password reset page.

Security questions – You will have to enter your birthday and answer two of your security questions. These security questions were chosen when you created your account. the birthday must match the birthday you entered when you created your account.

Two-step verification – If you have two-step verification enabled, you can enter the code you receive on your device instead of using the above two options.

If you know the answers to your security questions, select “Answer security questions” and follow the steps to reset your password.

From the left menu select Password and Security.

If you choose “Get an email,” we’ll send an email to your rescue or primary email address that you can use to reset your password.

If you set up two-step verification, you can use it to change your password. You just need a recovery key and a trusted device. Follow these steps:

Enter your Recovery Key.
Choose a trusted device. We’ll send your device a verification code.
Launch Safari (or your browser of choice).
Go to
Tap/click on Enter your Apple ID to begin the recovery process.
Enter your Recovery key.
Tap/click Next.
Choose your recovery device—make it one you have readily available!
Tap/click Next.
Enter the Verification code when it arrives.
Tap/click Next.
Apple has begun rolling out a new two-factor authentication system that doesn’t include a recovery key. If you have two-factor authentication, you can reset or change your password from your trusted iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when you follow these steps:

Go to Settings > iCloud.
Tap your name.
Tap Password & Security.
Tap Change Password.
Enter the verification code.
Then Place a new password and select Reset Password. If you permanently lost your recovery key or access to your trusted device, you can’t change your password. Once your Apple ID password has been changed, you’ll have to enter the new password on your iOS devices and in iTunes on your computer to use the iTunes store.

Enter the new password on your iOS device by navigating to Settings -> Store -> Apple ID

Enter the new password in iTunes on your computer by navigating to the top menu Store -> Sign In

These steps will work only from a trusted device with a device passcode enabled. If you don’t have access to a trusted device, you can reset your password when you follow these steps:

Go to  and enter your Apple ID.
Enter your trusted phone number and click Continue.
Enter the verification code that we send to your trusted phone number.
Provide any additional account information requested.
Choose your new password.

If you can’t sign in, the only option left is to reset your password or receive verification codes, you can request account recovery to regain access to your account. Account recovery will take a few days, depending on what account information you can give.

When you reset your password, you’ll be allowed to sign in again with your new password. You might also need to update your password in Apple services and on your devices.
